Evaluation of strategic partnerships
Why Albany Matters
Graphite is a key component in electric vehicle (EV) and energy-storage batteries, with each EV requiring roughly 125 kilograms of graphite. Potential North American source of high-purity graphite that can help reduce reliance on foreign supply and strengthen secure, local supply chains.
Supports EV Chains
Potential domestic source of high-purity natural graphite for anodes.
Policy Aligned
Aligned with Canadian and U.S. initiatives to strengthen domestic and allied mining and critical-minerals supply chains.
Eco-Friendly Alternative
Potentially lower-carbon alternative to synthetic graphite, subject to process design and energy sourcing.
Technology and Testwork
Purification and performance testing have demonstrated potential suitability of Albany graphite
for demanding technical applications, based on preliminary bench‑scale evaluations.
Ultra-High Purity
Bench‑scale electrothermal purification testwork has demonstrated graphite purities of up to 99.9992% using a chlorine‑free process that avoids hydrofluoric acid.
Battery Anode
Independent bench‑scale testing indicates anode performance metrics approaching theoretical benchmarks in selected lithium‑ion test formats.
Nuclear Uses
Potential to perform to standards of specialized blocks used in advanced nuclear reactors and SMRs.
Community & Responsibility
ESG & Community
The Albany Project is located within the traditional territory of Constance Lake First Nation. An implementation agreement is in place that defines governance structures and shared responsibilities.
Environmental and social baseline studies were initiated in 2019 to inform responsible project planning and decision-making.
